Victoria Lee (VELCALLE)
Funny story... I didn't start out owning Pembrokes, my first introductionto the breed, I was 6 and Toffee her name was, bit me. My first dog was a collie (rough) called Charlotte, I was almost 3 when she came into our family. A beautiful rescue dog that became my partner in crime, getting into mischief in the sandpit as a toddler does.
Time passed on and I grew a passion for working with large animals with a family connection to both the dairy and beef industry, along with equine. My grandmother gave me the opportunity to learn to ride, while my grandfather made sure I knew every marketable cut of meat a beast had to offer.
As I to showed the horses and cattle I ventured over to the dog shows after my classes and met Louise Shipman, showing a beautiful collie called Paris in 2014. Louise and her husband Wayne were kind enough to take me under their wing and teach me the foundations of the dog show world and the ring craft required for confirmation classes. Then time would have it I moved away for university and was able to join Louise and Wayne at the shows in Gunnedah. This one particular June weekend in 2019 we were set up next to this lovely family and their Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Witch - CH Aziah Winter Solstice. Watching her go around the ring I was in love and knew I just had to find out more. This is where the journey began, the day I met Liana (AZIAH).
Originally enquiring for a puppy on behalf of a friend, I ended up welcoming Callie - CH Aziah Too Many Faeries (AI), (who just so happened to be Witch's half sister) at the start of 2020. Our show career got cut short with Covid hitting our shores and throwing the world into lockdown. With a later start to show life once we found our feet, we managed to quickly finish Callie's title with a RBIG.
Under the guidance of Liana, I have since produced my first homebred Champions and look to the future knowing it's bright with the young stock our joint efforts have coming of age. Since welcoming my first child at the end of 2024, I am learning to juggle being a mother and enjoy shows from time to time. The next steps for me are to continue my understanding of the breed and fulfill the criteria to start my judges training.
